The Strip SA LGBTQ+ Community Fair

S.A.F.E. was honored to be invited by The Strip SA to take part in their San Antonio LGBTQ+ Community Fair, a community day created to bring local LGBTQIA+ organizations, resources, and community groups together in one welcoming space.

The event was held along The Strip SA area on North Main Ave, a local LGBTQ+

nightlife and community hub that includes venues like Heat Nightclub, Sparky’s, Knockout, Pup’s Pizza, North Main St, and The Eagle SA. It was a great setting for people to meet local organizations, learn about resources, mingle, and make new connections.

For S.A.F.E., this was more than just setting up a table. It was a chance to show up, represent the furry community, and remind people that our community is creative, welcoming, and deeply connected to self-expression and chosen family. Pride and furry spaces have always shared a lot of the same heart: being yourself, finding your people, and building safer places where everyone can feel seen.

Throughout the event, we had the chance to meet several wonderful local groups and community organizers. We connected with the San Antonio Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Abbey of the Alamo, and the San Antonio Gender Association, both of whom were incredibly welcoming. Even more exciting, both groups expressed interest in future collaborations with S.A.F.E. at their events.

That is huge for us.

Building relationships like this is exactly what S.A.F.E. is about. We want to help connect the San Antonio furry community with the larger local community around us. Whether it is Pride events, creative meetups, photography days, educational outreach, or just fun community gatherings, we want S.A.F.E. to be part of that bridge.

We also had the chance to meet and visit with other groups and organizations represented at the fair, including community health, wellness, youth, sports, and support organizations. Groups like Fiesta Youth, Living Positive San Antonio, San Antonio Pride Softball, Apollo Wellness, and others helped make the event feel full of life, care, and purpose. Seeing so many groups show up for the same goal was honestly pretty special.

And of course, having a fursuiter present brought plenty of smiles, waves, photos, and happy conversations. It was a great reminder that furry visibility can be joyful, friendly, and a fun way to start conversations with people who may not know much about our community yet.

A big thank you goes out to The Strip SA for inviting us and for creating a space where local LGBTQIA+ groups could come together, share resources, and celebrate community. Events like this help strengthen San Antonio by giving people a place to connect, learn, and support one another.

We are excited about the new connections made at the fair, especially the possibility of future collaborations with the San Antonio Sisters and the San Antonio Gender Association. S.A.F.E. is growing, and moments like this show just how much good can happen when communities come together.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, talked with us, took photos, shared resources, and helped make the day special. We are looking forward to what comes next.
